Report of Two Cases of Pancreatic Calculi

Abstract
It is generally known that Pancreatic calculi are a rare condition. Eliason, however, stated that it is more frequent than generally believed. With glowing surgery and roentgen examination of the pancreas, calculi in the gland are observed with increasing frequency.
A report is made here on two cases of unusual pancreatic calculi authors have observed recently.
According to paulino-Netto 25 percent of pancreatic calcification is associated with carcinoma. One case reported here is found to have metaplasia of stratification in histological examination of the pancreatic duct. The case raises the possibility that pancreatic calculi may be a contributory factor to the development of cancer. Radical surgery along with pancreatolithotomy was suggested in this case. The other case had calculi in the Papilla of Vater. This should he differentiated from gall stones. Because pancreatic calculi consist mainly of calcification, roentgen examination is thought the most helpful in recognizing them.
More cases of pancreatic calcification will be observed in the future as the interest in the condition grows.
Authors, therefore, assumed that more pancreas surgeries will be done hereafter.
